Program Overview
The Learnest Fellowship program is a comprehensive 4-month program that trains and inspires graduate students to become leaders in the field of AI Ethics in Education. Our program provides fellows with the resources, guidance, mentorship, and professional networks required to produce valuable ethical AIED research and development in an educational context.
cross-disciplinary research

Fellows will conduct a capstone project on one particular aspect of AI ethics within an educational context, guided by expert mentors from both the academic and industrial worlds (matched by the Learnest team). Research themes may encompass fairness and bias in AI, privacy and data security in digital learning, transparency and accountability in AI-powered educational tools, to the impact of AI on learning outcomes and accessibility.

Core Features

Eligibility and Requirements

The fellowship is open to all graduate students currently enrolled in a Masters or Ph.D. program based in North America related to AI, Education or Ethics (e.g., Computer Science, Education, Philosophy, Law, Sociology, Psychology). Early career professionals in these fields are also welcomed. Applicants should demonstrate a keen interest in the interplay of AI and its ethical implications in the context of education.

Stipends

Fellows will be provided $2,000 stipend (in two installments) as learning funds during the fellowship.

Generally, fellows are expected to attend 1-2 one-hour sessions per month, participating in our activities including seminars and group discussions.

Fellows need to have full participation to receive the full amount of the stipend (more details to be shared during interviews).
